About Me:
I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. I grew up in the Central Phoenix area and graduated from Central High School. After high school, I attended community college for a couple years to save money and figure out "what I wanted to be when I grew up."
When I'd exhausted all my community college class options, I headed to Tempe to attend Arizona State. After some waffling, I finally settled on a communication degree. However, in my last semester, I had an epiphany and realized that what I really wanted to do was be a teacher, but realized I was thousands of dollars and 4 years too late. So I stuck with it and graduated with my BS in Communication in 1997. I went to work right away in a sales environment, because, well, student loans. It didn't take long for me to discover that I did NOT like sales. So, I immediately enrolled in a Post Baccalaureate program to earn my teaching certificate. I stepped into my first classroom in October of 1999 and I have NEVER looked back! I LOVE what I do and love going to work everyday.
On the personal side, I've been married for 20 years to my college sweetheart. We have two amazing and crazy daughters, one in 9th grade and one in 5th grade. As a family we are active in Girl Scouts, LOVE to attend Comicon, try to get to as many movies as we can, and like to hang out at home and play games and watch TV together.
When I'm not teachering or chauffeuring my children around to their various activities, you can usually find me reading or trying to catch up on sleep. I also recently finished graduate school at ASU , earning my Master's degree in English Education. I like to think I am an exerciser, but usually sleep wins out. I also LOVE to scroll Pinterest and pin all the things I wish I had time to do.
